The Art of a Simple Skincare Routine

Three steps, done well, every day. Why a pared-back routine is often the most effective one, and how to build yours.

The most beautiful routines are rarely the longest. A few well-chosen steps, repeated with care, can do more for your skin than a shelf of products used now and then.

Why less can be more

Every extra step is another texture to layer, another product to finish and another reason to skip the routine altogether on a busy evening. A simple routine is easier to understand, easier to adjust and, above all, easier to keep doing. Consistency is where skincare does its quiet work.

Simplicity also makes it easier to notice how your skin responds. When you introduce one product at a time, you can tell what suits you and what doesn't.

The three essentials

01 — Cleanse

Cleansing removes make-up, sunscreen and the day's impurities so the rest of your routine starts on fresh skin. Choose something gentle that leaves skin feeling comfortable rather than tight. Our Cleansing Foam is a mild, light foam: apply it to the face, massage gently and rinse off with water.

02 — Hydrate

A lightweight serum adds a layer of hydration before your moisturiser. Serums are usually thin and fast-absorbing, which is why they come before heavier textures. Our Hydrating Serum is applied to clean skin.

03 — Moisturise

Moisturiser helps keep skin feeling soft and comfortable. Our Moisturising Day Cream is a silky cream formulated with multi-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid; smooth it over clean skin in the morning as the final step before sunscreen.

Three steps, done well, every day.

Morning and evening

In the morning, cleanse, hydrate and moisturise, then finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen whenever your skin will see daylight. In the evening, take a little more time with cleansing, especially if you have worn make-up or sunscreen, then follow your serum with a moisturiser suited to night.

Give it time

Skin rarely changes overnight. Give a new routine several weeks of steady use before judging it, and introduce one new product at a time. If something stings or irritates, stop using it.

Make it yours

  • Keep your products where you will see them, next to your toothbrush, for example.
  • Attach your routine to something you already do every day.
  • On tired evenings, a gentle cleanse and moisturiser still counts.
